I have several nef images damaged because of corrupted cards.

After taking the images I copied the files from the card to my computer.

Apparently, all the files are ok (no errors given during transfer) but some of them are unreadable by all the apps I use to work with them.

Can you please help me?

Please note that I have plenty of files with this issue, because I copied them to my computer, then format the card and used other times!

With Nikon View-NX-i I'm able to see part of the images (as you can see from attachment) but anyway I'm not able to open them (even the part that seems not ruined).

The files are too large to be put in attachment so this is a dropbox link where I put two of these (made with D800)

There are different tools (including free ones) that can be downloaded from internet.

Difficult to say which one will help you.

Maybe you can test this one:
Image Analyzer

I tried many tools but never been able to restore them!

With "Image Analyzer" I'm able to load the images, but the size in which they are loaded is only 160x120 and no the original 7000x4000.

So I'm stucked!

Do you have any ideas or other tools (even paying them) that I can use?
Thanks in advance

Giovanni

While readibg a bit on internet I find that NEF files seem to contain 3 preview captures with different size of which the 160x120 is the smallest.

According to the same article exiftool allows to retrieve all three, with the largest being 4288x2848.

This would suggest that you can get access to the contained thumbnails, but not to the original raw capture.

I already tried exiftool but the software does not recognize the pictures as valid nef...

It seems very strange to me that no one in the world has ever had this problem, it should be a pretty common issue.

I already tried many programs but never recovered any of these pictures (I have hundreds).

I also asked to Nikon but they told me to use exiftool, so I need a great expert about this problem!

Thanks
