Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 24 December 2017, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style—just give us your best shot.

If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

P.S. The editing exercises are taking a break at the moment, but feel free to play around in the old exercises.

Going along the  highway last Sunday I ran across about Five Bald Eagles eating on a carcass along the road in a field.   I turned around and stopped to take photos from my vehicle.  I had my 55 to 300mm on my camera and after I took the photos I noticed they didn't turn out very good at all.  So I put my 80 to 400mm on and the results were greatly better.

Shutter Speed 1/1000

Apeture 7.1

ISO 800

I kept my Shutter Speed up because I knew they would take off as soon as I stopped and thought I could catch some taking off.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

I decided my favorite photographic story needs more than one image.  This week a local TriColored Heron has blessed me with magnificent displays of its feeding pattern.  I included 5 pictures (sorry I just couldn't pick one :-)).

sequence: (can't seem to set the order of the images...)

1) Leaping off bank

2) Plunge for a fish

3) Return to bank

4) Sushi

5) Walking on water

All pictures shot with my new Nikkor 200-500 f5.6 @ 500mm, f/5.6, ISO 200-400, 1/640 to 1/2000, Benro Gimbal head on a tripod.

Silhouette on the African Plains.

One of the few I was able to resurrect from the holocaust of going from color negatives to digital.

Enjoy and thanks so much for viewing.  Thanks so much for making 2017 such a delightful year in photography.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
