I received a Nikon D90 recently and have a few questions.

I will be going to a sporting event in JAnuary and there is absolutely no flash photography allowed during play.

I suppose my questions are :

Do cameras have an option to do a complete factory reset similar to what you can do on a computer?

And

How do I ensure that there will be no flash when I take the photo ? I have realised that there seems to be a small flash which comes on when it auto focus mode. The light is more of an orange coloured flash rather than the main flash which is more white in color.

That is a focus assist lamp and can be turned off in your menus...you should be able to find the camera's manual on Nikon's site which can point you towards that setting and any reset you might want to do.

There is a two button reset for the D90.  Press the +/- button and the AF button together and hold them for at least 2 seconds.  This will reset the basic functions, but does not reset the custom functions.  To reset the custom functions, press MENU, then hit the left edge of the multi-selector to move the highlight to the far left column on the screen.  Move the highlight to the custom menu tab (the one with the pencil) using the top or bottom of the multi-selector.  Custom settings reset will be the top item, use the multi-selector to highlight it and hit OK.

Hope that helps.
