That depends on what sizes you need to print and what you need to print on. A dye-sub is fast and cheap to run, but if you need to print 5X7" or larger acquiring one is expensive. If you need A3+, the Canons are a nice balance  between purchase price and running cost. For A2 and over, Epsons and HPs are probably better.

How deep are your pockets?

If I had the money I'd own a Canon Pixma Pro-1000.

If your timing is good you may be able to pick up a Canon Pixma Pro-10 for $50 net.

If I was in the market for a 17x22" printer today, I would rather go for the Epson SC-P800 as the cost per print is a bit lower than the Canon, but this might differ between markets as Sweden is, and has for a long time been, Epson country when it comes to large format printers.

More than likely true here too. I really hadn't put much thought into it or got to the stage of making an informed decision because....

I now own an Epson Stylus Photo R1800. I picked it up locally second hand for $120 and couldn't pass up that deal. Haven't tried it. Haven't even connected it up yet. 18246900349d95ab7d7ee29ffe243159.jpg

I was leaning towards this one, Canon Pixma Pro-1000.
Thank you all for your input, Atb Paul.

I maybe looking to get a sublimation photo machine, any suggestions & advice. I need something easy to operate & price range about $600 to $900. I’ll be printing mostly 4x6, 5X7, 8X10...

You can once again pick up the Canon PIXMA PRO-100 for about $100 after rebate. It's a pro quality, pigment ink system that is capable of amazing prints, but you'll pay dearly for the paper and ink once the initial supplies run out.

The DNP DS820A is about all there is that can do 8" on affordable media. It is closer to $1000, so a bit over your price range. The running  cost is quite a bit lower than a comparable HiTi unit, though.
