Nikon has just released v2 of its Snapbridge application.

Nikon | SnapBridge

Extract from the website:

The updated SnapBridge app provides improved operability, which adds even more to your shooting and sharing enjoyment.

SnapBridge Evolved points

When pairing for the first time, the process is guided using animation.
Simpler-to-understand, easier-to-view GUI that provides intuitive operation.
All images are reduced in size to 2 megapixels for automatic transfer, enabling easy handling with the smart device. (Original size images can be downloaded to your smart device manually)
Power-saving mode is employed to minimize the battery consumption of the smart device.
Time required for displaying images in-camera and on the smart device is greatly shortened.
Remote shooting function allows control of camera settings with the smart device, including shooting mode (P/S/A/M), shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation, and white balance. Settings can be confirmed on the smart device live view screen.
According to the situation, the accuracy of location information can be selected from three levels, including accuracy priority and power-saving priority.
Easy access to Help function when needed.

Despite the singing & dancing in the demo video, my D500 still cannot pair with my Samsung S7.

Have you tried uninstalling the previous version and deactivate any pairing before re-installing and reinitiating the communication?

This might help.

(I don’t have Android devices to test)

Uninstalled, re-booted the S7, then install the 2.0 SnapBridge.

This version show a different error message - "the camera is currently connected to another devise" instead of "cannot connect camera" with version 1.3.

I am really disappointed with Nikon on their "free" connectivity software.  The "lowly" $400 GoPro do a much much better job at that.

So does Panasonic, Fuji, and Sony. I dunno why Nikon's software always seems to suck... but it does.

I had Nikon's first "WiFi" cam years ago and it sucked as well (not to mention it went totally unsupported 6 months later after an OS update - they simply couldn't have cared less).

With that said, you have a Samsung phone, and the reality is that Samsung has more stuff overlaid on top of stock Android that tends to get in the way of other apps' connectivity. Don't get me wrong, even stock versions of Android can sometimes break stuff, but TouchWiz has a long standing reputation in this regard.

I downloaded SnapBridge yesterday and took some time at lunch to try and hook up my new D500 with my iPhone 8+.  Other than me missing one step the first time through, it connected fine.  Sorry can't help / test with the Samsung...
