Hello,

Can anyone advise me on the following.....

The difference / benefits of using a WT-7 in Ad Hoc or Infrastucture mode ?

I want to use the WT 7 on a D810 and I've updated the camera firmware in order to do this.

I'm currently using old D200's with WT-3's in Infrastructure mode i.e. using filezilla server,

a router and my own network.

The downside is that in the UK everyone is on the the 2.45 frequency so when at an event

with hundreds of people, the transmissions become really slow, no matter which channel I'm on.

I can use eyefi cards at t short distances to an iPad with success but I want a more solid solution, sending

images from 20 metres away.

Will the WT 7 work as fast and as securely in either mode or will infrastructure always be the best option.

The advice from Nikon Pro in the Uk was   " Buy one and test it for yourself, we really wouldn't know,"

Awesome.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't think you will get any better advice here, as it all depends on how traffic-congested the available frequencies are at the venue, how good your antennas are placed and luck in finding a less used channel.

Ad-hoc will always use more overhead as the handshakes are done more often.
