Hello,

I've been having trouble for some time with a focus problem. I shoot with a D7000 body and typically with a Sigma 50mm 1/4 lens. When I use the viewfinder and focus (manually or automatically) when it appears to be in focus and I snap the photo it always ends up out of focus and not what it appeared in the viewfinder. Therefore, I've resorted to using the "video mode" which opens up the screen to use as a viewfinder. Even so, it is very hard to focus both manually and automatically. I've sent the lens in for calibration, but it hasn't seemed to help. Does anyone have a service provider that they would recommend for me to visit to help me determine if the problem is in the body or the lens? I appreciate any advice or information! Thank you!

Have you tried testing for front/back focussing issues?

As above, if you can use it on the rear LCD then because of the different focus mode it sounds like back/front focus problems.

If focusing in Liveview both manually and AF works but focusing is off using the viewfinder both manual and AF, it sounds like the mirror and focusing sub-assembly needs adjusting. Test this on a tripod to make sure that it isn't a question of technique that doesn't work. Any Nikon certified service point should be able to do this for you.
