Hi All,

I am a new photographer learning as much as I can all the time. I have done a fair bit of research into a new camera but I now need some advice.

I currently shoot on a D5200 DX and use it mainly for landscape, astro and general daily photography. Not ideal, but it works.

I am choosing to move to FX (can't wait), to get some proper wide angle lenses and some better ISO ratings from a larger sensor. Currently I shoot landscape for myself but at some point I would like to sell prints however I am still learning the ropes of landscape photography. I also want to get into event photography as I have some potential work through other clients (I'm a graphic designer) that keep asking me about photography.

I came to the decision that the D750 was the best option for me. It's lower cost than the D850 and I don't feel I can back my decision to buy the D850 as I am still learning, and the jump to the D750 will still be a big difference compared to my D5200.

Can anyone shed light on this decision?

Camera needs to be good for travel, hiking, landscape, astro, event, a bit of wildlife and I will be using it to do some filming too. Basically everything.

Lenses I am looking to partner with this are..

AF-S FX 14-24mm f/2.8G IF-ED

AF-S FX 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR

AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8 IF-ED VR

Thanks! Appreciate any response

Max

Considering that the D750 should soon be heavily discounted for Black Friday, it's really a no-brainer.

I've never used the camera but from what I've read and seen, it should more than meet your expectations. The only downside I see is in Astro photography where the D8xxx series is clearly better but then they are, as you note, considerably more expensive.

Are you thinking of purchasing all of those lenses? If so, you'll spend more for them than you will for the camera. But, of course, if you have the money... they would be perfect.

The D750 sounds like the right choice for what you want to do, even if the D8xx would be even better for astro.

Are you sure about the 14-24? It is difficult to avoid ghosts and flare with that beast. This is one area where Tamron might be a better choice as the 15-30 is easier to use for landscape. The 14-24 is a wonderful lens when things go right, but there are easier lenses to use. For event photography, the 17-35 would be ideal as the lack of overlap at 24 mm can be frustrating with the current trinity, the Tamron would be better than the 14-24 in that aspect as well. I use the 14-24, but had the Tamron been out when I bought it, the choice would have been a hard one. I miss my old 17-35 sometimes as it was so versatile.

you picked right three lenses to have. if you do not want to break the bank on lenses. you should try to get first gen af-s 70-200mm since can find first gens for really good price and not much improvement from first gen but better vr II version and lighter weight for two of them too. also some other brands not that bad too. so do some research and you find what you really could be great find. been told first gen 70-200mm is great and no need to get other 2 since cheaper to find and save you tons of cash. that was said since i  am using dx body. also what Merco_61 is good info to go on too.
