I am trying to figure out what year my new used lens was made. Found out was made from 2003-2009 would like to know what year some my lens where made. I know cars and some or most my paintguns had numbers or codes tell you what year it was made

According to Roland Vink's site, serial numbers were between 200001 and a little over 472400. The difference is 272400. The production ran for 77 months. This gives an average production rate of approximately 3500 units per month. If you take your serial number, subtract 200001 and divide by 3500, you will know how roughly many months after February 2003 your lens was produced.

There are no production codes hidden in the serials for the pro lenses. For mass-produced lenses there are serial number batches that run in parallel in different factories, but the methodology for determining when it was made is the same even if the result is less precise.
