Welcome to the forums!

As you browse the site, don't miss the weekly mini-challenges. In the Your best... challenge, most of us write the EXIF data as well as descriptions of special lighting used to capture the photos. The One week... exercise is more about getting out to shoot more.

One thing to remember that sets us apart from many other photo groups is that we try not to critique unless invited to. If you want critique, either say so in your posting or post in the Critique subsection.

LBJ was in office when I started in photography as a teenaged employee in a camera store and film processing lab. That company was bigger than Hunt Photo at the time (Hunt was just a tiny little store then) but it is now long gone. When I started I was an equipment hound and tried to do everything. I eventually discovered I was doing nothing of any quality. After high school I just took pictures for about 40 years and earned a living in an entirely different field. For the last dozen years I am mostly into video but I do some stills professionally - almost exclusively small object work for insurance documentation or for product promotion on ebay and similar sites. For still gear I have a d7200 and a d7000 for backup. I believe in using gear designed for the use I want so all my video is done with dedicated video cameras. I also have a 50 acres site in Arkansas that I use for a studio and which I rent to others for the same.
