I have had a NIKON D40 DSLR for a number of years and have the following lenses and attachemnts;

AF-S NIKKOR DX 18-55mm 3.5-5.6GII ED lens
AF-S NIKKOR DX 35mm f/1.8G lens
HB46 Lens Hood
AF-S NIKKOR DX 55-200mm 1.4-5.6G ED lens
NIKON HB-34 lens hood

I am basically a 'Point & Shoot' User but am looking to upgrade to something with a bit more 'Oomph' (i.e. more Megapixels etc) than the D40 which has only 6 Mp.

Can anyone advise what other NIKON cameras (with signigicantly more Megapixels) are available that will accomodate my current lenses and attachments?

I am aware that you can buy the Camera Body ONLY (with a lens) through many Retailers.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Your lenses work with any of the current DX bodies. How well they work is a matter of opinion as the current kit zooms are made for the 24 MP sensor which will reveal flaws in the old 18-55/55-200 combo that were never seen on 6 MP. The 35 works as well on the new sensors as always.

The D3300 or D3400 are very similar to the old D40 in use.

The D5500 or D5600 add an articulated screen and better AF.

The D7200 or D7500 add more controls, some weather sealing, better AF, a better finder and faster burst shooting.

The D500 is a pro body, made for fast paced shooting without having to look at menus during the shoot.

You will need to handle them in a store to find out which segment will suit you better. You basically pay more for the latest tech in each segment and for better ergonomics between the segments. If you want a modern equivalent to what you have, the D3xxx is it but you might like the improvements the D5xxx or D7xxx provide.
