I have used Nikon equipment professionally for 50 years - and as such, have my beautiful old lenses like my 50m f1.4 that I would like to use (manually obviously) on my wife's D300 and my D700 camera bodies.
Problem is, there is no one in the UK performing the Ai/Ais conversion to older Nikon lenses.
I have tried utilising a PK 11a extension ring - knowing I would lose infinity, but thought I could try the close up facility of this beautiful glass. The PK fits both D bodies - but the old lenses don't fit onto the PK 11a ring!
Ideally, I just want to use my old lenses as they were intended - but unless I get them converted, I guess I'm stuck.
Does anyone know of a solution?
Thanks in anticipation
Bob

There's a guy here in the states (John White) who apparently does the type of conversions you're interested in. I have no idea whether he's any good or not. Nor do I know if he'll accept international orders. He does have a handy lens/body chart on his site that may be of use to use to you whether you use his service or not.

his site is http://www.aiconversions.com/

It isn't difficult to convert an aperture ring yourself unless it is one of the models that nearly clear the Ai tab. Richard Haw has written one of the better guides in his blog.
