It's a problem with flashing diagonal banding on video clips that I've uploaded from my cameras. I noticed it ages ago on my D3200 and tried to find a solution and failed. I decided it was a camera fault not worth having repaired so abandoned trying to solve it. However having bought another Nikon (D800) I am having the exact same problem.
So it's not a camera fault. The clips look fine on playback on the cameras.
I also have a Canon camera and I have no issues with this. It's just the Nikons.
I have tried all sorts of different software to upload to my comp including Adobe Bridge and Nikon's ViewNX-i, even just dragging and dropping from the camera file to a comp file. Nothing works.
I thought it might be some sort of known conflict, possibly with Windows 10 (as I don't remember a problem before having this) but I would expect to see other people with the same problem if it was that and I can't find anything.
Any thoughts, suggestions, help, anything would be really appreciated!
I put a clip up on YouTube when I was first trying to sort this out with the D3200, (it's exactly the same with the D800) so you can see the problem I'm having.
Thanks in advance

Looks like the youtube link didn't go through. Anyway, it sounds like you're having 2 issues:
1. Moving the file to your computer
2. Viewing the file itself
For #1, I recommend using the your OS file browser, as this should work for any file type.
#2 might be a codec issue. Nikon video files should be universally recognized, but if you're having trouble playing them back, I recommend VLC media player- it's free and can open just about anything.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Hi Adam, Thanks for replying.
I've tried just using the OS file browser to get the clips off my camera and to view them. I still get the banding. If I try to view them without removing from camera first I can't, it says "Can't play". "Movies &TV" tries to open it, no other options. (As far as I can tell, I'm not very techy!)
It's not just a viewing issue though, the banding is in the file, or at least I presume it is, otherwise it wouldn't move with the file onto Youtube and the such when I upload it elsewhere?
Something is happening when moving files from camera to computer, which changes the files to include this banding issue.
I'll try again with the YT link:

Have you tried installing VLC? You just search for the software on the web, download the installation file and install it with the default settings.
Once you have VLC installed, you can open your video file with VLC and see what happens.
Your trouble looks like a codec problem. It is possible that windows does something screwy with your file if the associated codec is corrupt. VLC tends to fix these problems as the installation changes the codecs to updated versions.
