My film camera was a FM2 and a Nikon F I loved those cameras. I owned a canon consumer digital and moved into a G6 which I still have (Excellent Camera)

I moved into digital with a D40 in 2006, I like it but the controls were awkward when it came to changing settings.

I decided it is time to upgrade and my heart says buy the D7200. However my budget and my wife say D5600 (use the extra $$ for a new lens) I use the camera for family photos and shooting sports (Little league and high school)I am looking to use it for Video so the tilt screen may be useful.  I want to do more family portrait work and I do prefer the controls on the D7200 and FP flash mode. But I was told the touch screen was almost as fast as the  D7200 controls.

Give me your honest opinions, I value all input.

Thanks,

scott

A few reasons why i would go for the D7200 but the biggest one to throw at you i think is the ability to fine tune the focus on your lenses,i dont think you can do that with the 5600.

My preference would be for the D7200 but then I don't shoot video. I'm not sure if the video on a D5600 is better than a D7200 but I suspect so.

Otherwise, the D7200 is markedly better in every other respect.
