I've only watched a couple of his videos so I'm probably not the best one to comment.

I understand completely about his language. I'm not sure why some people feel like they have to talk like that but that's his style and if you're going to peruse his videos you'll have to get used to it.

However, if it bothers you I would consign him to the bit bin and look elsewhere for your information. There are plenty of others on YouTube to choose from. Personally, I've gained very little from his videos that couldn't be found somewhere else.

I have tried to watch, but his language and style are too much for me. He seems to know what he is doing, though.

lol... If you think he has vulgar language you DON'T want to come to Australia.

I, in general dislike the guy. He's a tech boffin, not a photographer. So whilst he may have a valid opinion on the technology side of things he doesn't understand what it is like to actually be a photographer. His photos really are quite average. You can see them here. Although for the most part they are just gear tests. But if I am going to take advice from someone I am going to do so from someone who can use the gear, not someone who merely possess it and knows the technical specs inside out.

I do agree on some things he has to say, but that is really inevitable. I do like how he isn't a proponent of "the most expensive is always the best" mentality some people who push gear have. He is never pushing a product for his own financial gain. He promotes a product because he truly believes it is a quality item. I do however disagree with some of his choices and more so the reason behind them.

He is very much an introvert in an extrovert world. I think the anonymity of the internet (even though he is on video) allows his personality to be exaggerated. If you watch the Jason Lanier videos where they get together he is very much socially awkward. And Jason himself said afterwards that whilst they have had some serious online stoushes, in real life he found him to be a very pleasant and respectful man who isn't quite the same as the online persona we see.

I think this bit may have changed recently, im not certain what the beef was about exactly as i was on holidays at the time however i got the impression that Jason was looking to get a legal team ready.
