Hi I have just joined the forum and activated. I typed my question up on Word but when trying to create my first post I am finding that copy & past into the text area of the post is not working, whether I choose Paste, Paste as plain text, Paste from Word. I am using IE11 as my browser. Am I missing something?

You may need to click on the little power icon in the upper-left corner of the editor to disable rich text on our end, then paste in the plain text.  I also sometimes paste the content into notepad (to ensure it is not formatted), and then paste it here.

However I think IE11 is the underlying issue.  I'd recommend switching to Edge if you are on Windows 10, or Chrome or Firefox otherwise.  They are much better at supporting modern web standards.

IE and script-heavy sites like this one don't always play well together. Edge can freeze up when scrolling picture-heavy threads, so isn't ideal either. Firefox seems to be stable with the site, both on Windows and Mac systems.

Plus Word is notorious for putting all kinds of crap on the scrap when copying. I have some clients who refuse to use a "text editor" when updating their sites using a CMS... the result always being tons of unnecessary white space added to the page.

Use Notepad or other text-only editor and you should be good.

Oh no not Edge, that is like going from a BMW to a Fiat Uno :). I have found that the combination of Win10/IE11/Word has thrown up problems on a couple of sites, forums just like this, I have not had problems with commercial sites - I should have stayed on Win8! OK thank you for your responses guys, certainly several things for me to do there and hopefully I will get my question posted tomorrow :)
