Can someone please tell me how to convert color to monochrome using desktop software. I have Capture NX-D, View NX-i and Picture Control Utility 2 on Windows 10.

Thankyou

This might be a good starting point. My way of using SEP effectively - NikonForums.com

The NIK filters are still free, even if they won't be developed further. Silver Efex Pro works well as a standalone, just export your basic edit as a .tif from NX-D and open it with SEP to do the conversion. https://www.google.com/nikcollection/

The monochrome conversion in NX-D is just like shooting a monochrome .jpg with your camera and is difficult to get to look good.

If you use Lightroom, these settings for the channel mixers give quite good results. Black and white conversions using the channel mixers in Lightroom - NikonForums.com

I do not understand one word you're saying. I'm a beginner and all I want to know is how to change a photo from color to monochrome using Nikon software.

Thanks

You can make a monochrome rendition the easy way by just changing the picture control to monochrome in Capture NX-D. The rendition will look flat and lifeless compared to the more advanced ways outlined in my first answer, but it will be monochrome.
