Hi, Vyenky. I would suggest magazines to start. They have several different topics per issue, and some will have special editions that are specifically titled for beginners. Why I don't recommend a single book for a person starting out, is that I don't feel you should learn everything from one single photographer. Magazines have different contributors specializing in a certain subject.

Photography Course by Tim Sellars would be a good option, but an even better on would be Scott Kelby's Digital Photography Boxed Set, Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4. You can purchase it at a reasonable price using kindle.

I think I am going to go under my crawlspace and dig out my Time Life Library of Photography, from the 70s complete set.
