never done firmware update before. so how do i do update. do hook up to computer of down load file to memory card. does not have wifi

You start by going here.

Expand "Updating the Camera Firmware"

Follow each step exactly without trying any shortcuts.

When you are done, you have the latest firmware in your camera.

okay should be able to update when out at hooters for lunch tuesday when i take camera with me. glad to see found my solar eclipse filter. also glad to be able to get step up rings too.

i tried to do it off wifi from local hooters from phone to read camera but did not work. also since phone does not mobile hot spot. i need another way to do it.

Download the update file to your computer.

Expand the archive file you just downloaded.

Copy the file(s) that you just expanded to the root of a memory card using a card reader.

Put the card in your camera and follow the procedure to update the firmware as outlined at the link in post #2.
