I am currently looking to purchase a flashgun and have been considering the SB-300, mainly due to the convenient size and price. Has anyone used the 300 and I am not really willing to invest in something larger like the 700, it will be one or the other.

They're pretty new aren't they? Not many out there yet.

I just bought a 2nd hand SB-400, a bit more powerful I believe. It does bounce but no swivel. Small, light, convenient, fits my DSLRs and my P7100. For shots inside smallish rooms it's fine (bounced).

Did you get a case with the SB-400 and how have you found them for battery life?

Yes it came with a case. I've only had it a week, so haven't really tested battery life yet sorry.

I have just invested in a very reasonable mecablitz Metz Electronic flash for Nikon 24 AF-1, will let you know how I get on with it.
