Why not look at what a specialist astronomy supplier has to offer. An ordinary nd filter doesn't necessarily filter the invisible light that is most harmful to the eyes.
As a lens hood is useless when dealing with a solar eclipse, why not get a single, large filter and some step rings to use it on all your lenses? This would be a good excuse to get a 100 mm square filter holder that lets you use graduated nd filter for normal landscapes with the relevant mounting rings and a Lee solar filter. Another solution is a filter that slips on over the outside of your lens, like a telescope filter.
B&H have a selection of solar photography filters here.
