Hi
A bit new to this, I have a Nikon D5200 with a 18 55mm plus a 35mm 1.8.
Can someone recommened a 70 200mm or simular that I can use for wildlife photography.
I dont want to spend too much though, l know you get what you pay for.
Even second hand. Thanks for looking.

The Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 is very good.... and very expensive. If you have the budget it would be a good choice. However, I would suggest that you look into an Nikon AFS 70-300 VR lens. It's not as fast or as good as the 70-200 but it's much less expensive. I use one all the time and find the image quality more than acceptable.

How much is "not too much"?

For a lens to wet the appetite for wildlife shots, the f/2.8 offerings from Tamron or Nikon are good choices as they are made for heavy use and more robust than cheaper lenses. They work well with teleconverters if you find you need more reach, but they can't be called cheap.

If you are on a small budget, the FX AF-S 70-300 that Ron recommends is a good choice as it has more reach than a 70-200 and can be found used without spending much.

Well I have managed to get an excellent boxed like new condition 70-300.
For £200.
Arrived yesterday, have took a couple of shots from my back garden just to get a feel for its VR system.
Thanks for your help, I'll need more. ;-)

for a rad auto focus the Sigma 70-200 2.8 is good, the Tamron G2 is probably the best bang for buck.
