As in title...
Hello Everyone.

My name is Thomas and I live in Belgium.
I have a girlfriend and 2 children (to date).

I love trekking, cycling and travelling, the destination not being that important.

I've been in digital photography a few years now.
First with Canon, and then Nikon (when the whole bag was stolen, about 5 years ago).

Been shooting with a D700, 14mm (Samyang), 35mm, 28-105 and 105 macro from Nikon.

I'm probably looking here to boost inspiration and imagination.
The last couple of years, it has not always been easy to take the bag and go around shooting, small kids taking quite a lot of time looking for.

But I now feel more like getting back to it. So I'll be looking around a lot, maybe asking advices about a lens or two, intervene when I can be of some help, or I need some.

Shooting the D700 has always been great for me.
The 14mm was also a pleasure, but the manual focus is driving me crazy with the kids running around!

35mm and 105mm are perfect.

28-105mm was bought more for the girlfriend who doesn't like the lack of versatility of prime lenses. And I have to admit it has been quite practicle not to have to switch lenses with children hung to your arms and legs.

If I had to change something here, it would be this last one, but I haven't found the holy grail yet!

Thanks for your reading,

T

Welcome, tomtom362! We are glad to have you here. Sounds like you have a pretty solid kit to work with. I hope you'll share some of what you are shooting over there in Belgium.

I also have the Samyang 14mm (though I bought it under the Rokinon name, same company though)—it's a sharp little lens that has been great for nighttime landscapes, which is the only thing I really use it for because you're right—the manual focus is a challenge, and I really can't imagine trying to use it for anything that involved action (like kids). But for night shooting, the manual focus is perfect.

Anyway, hope to see you participating in the forums. You are certainly welcome to participate in the weekly mini-challenges.

Thanks.

I actually tried to insert a picture or a link, but kinda crashed doing so, and lose the whole post in the same time.

But I'll definitely post something when I get more used to rules and way of working around here (new forum, new rules).

I'll get to that as soon as I can.

I've had a lot of fun playing with the 14mm (landscapes for me got interesting thanks to it).

I'm actually lurking towards the 15-30 from Tamron that could replace it, but not the same budget to spend!

Thanks,
