I thought I'd share this as I found it interesting. This guy is a bit of a pedant, but he does offer up things of interest from time to time...

Motors, plastic gears and cams, stamped parts and springs... it is amazing this thing works as reliably as it does. Simply didn't realize just how retro our modern day SLRs are.

I've see a few videos from this guy. Never a dissemble video though. Is he a camera tech or what? I mean he's got a D500 dissembled and he's asking for donations.

He used to be an in-store camera tech. Think he worked for Beach and a number of others. Although he is a bit of a train wreck, I enjoy watching him. I don't agree with everything he says, but when he comments on build quality, or that a lens is great I usually believe him enough to have a look.

When he says something sucks... it often seems his criteria in that regard is different than mine. (he has the tendency to dismiss a lot of stuff based on irrelevant or obsolete experiences). Nevertheless I agree with much of his methodology.

He is a long time Nikon guy but also a fan of FujiFilm.

I wanted to revisit this as I just stumbled on to this guy's channel. He is the real deal and has some fascinating vids, unfortunately too few of them (and doesn't seem to have produced any for a while).

So... if your interested in just how 'analog' our DSLRs are, have a look.
