Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 30 July 2017, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style—just give us your best shot.

If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

P.S. The editing exercises are taking a break for the summer, but feel free to play around in the old exercises.

P.P.S. Peter is running a fun single lens challenge that we are all invited to participate in.

My wife and I spent the day in the park today, making up for a week without photos.  The mountain tops were engulfed in the clouds, so extremely foggy conditions.  This one conveys the mood pretty well:

We were away from home a few days and returned to my wife's back porch cactus having bloomed during the previous night.  My D750 is away at Nikon for recall repair to the shutter and is not expected home until next week, so shots are with my Sony a6000 mirrorless, 18-50 pancake lens. Edited in LR5

Not the best lens/camera for micro work

2) Flash, 1/160 @ f5.6, iso 800, 50mm

1) b/w, 1/160 @f5.6, iso 800, 50mm

3) 1/160 @ f13, iso 100, 50mm

so. After further review, I felt i wasn't getting what the camera is capable of producing (lazy?,  photo #4 is the same settings using a tripod and internal timer.  All shot outdoors on a very dark and gloomy day.

Oh, man! I have to gush about all your photos! FANTASTIC work this week. It's late here, so I'll try to jump back on tomorrow and say a bit more, but no promises because work's got me in a bind for the next week or so.

I haven't picked up my camera for a couple of weeks, but tonight we did our annual birthday portraits for our youngest daughter so I finally had an excuse to get it out. I was also excited to try out this location I've had my eye on for quite a while. It's even near our house, so that was bonus.

I've got quite a few to process, but this one caught my eye. It looks a bit solemn or sad, but I promise we had fun too. She can be a silly girl, but she is also quite reserved and shy, and this one seemed to catch that aspect of her personality. Also, I have to say, I love my Neewer 110cm 5-in-1 reflector. I think it is probably my most used piece of lighting equipment.

It has been a busy period for some time. So, even having done photography, I hardly catched up with processing and so not posting.

These were taken while visiting an event where old trains were "reactivated"
