Hi, 

 

new to the forum so hoping someone can offer some constructive advice.

I've just bought a used Nikon 14-24 2.8 lens. It is the second used lens of this type I have bought recently. On both lenses, the zoom ring wasn't totally smooth. On the lens I have just bought, there is friction when zooming from around 16mm. I'd probably describe it as "notchy'. This was exactly the same with the previous lens I bought, but I returned that one because the zoom ring wasnt smooth.

 

Can anyone who owns or has used the lens advise if this is normal and that you would expect some resistance, or should the zoom ring be totally smooth?

I don't feel any notching on mine, very smooth.

When I had one it was perfectly smooth.
