Hello!

I recently made the switch from Canon to Nikon with the Nikon D5600. I started in manual mode from the get go, and I definitely still have a lot to learn. I have the focus set to back button focusing and the shutter is set to continuous. When I'm in manual mode, and I hold my finger half way down on the shutter to read the light meter and I get it adjusted so that it's on zero. I take the first photo and its exposed perfectly, I won't move my position, I won't change any of the settings, but when I hold the shutter down to get a few frames of the same shot (just in case) the other shots are completely under or over exposed. Like I said before I am not an expert and still am learning my way around manual mode, but from everything I've read and researched if I don't change my position or no other variables change shouldn't the other frames come out at the exact same exposure as the first shot? Is there a setting I need to adjust or what could be causing this? Thank you in advance for any wisdom you have to offer.

Indeed if light on the subject doesn't change and you don't move away from the subject then the exposure should be the same.

However if bracketing is enabled the camera will take different pictures with different exposures.

Check in your manual how bracketing is set and whether it is activated on the D5600 (I don't have that model)
