Hi, I am new to this forum and am here looking for help with choosing a Nikon flashgun to go with my D7100 camera. I have done a lot of research but am getting very confused. I thought I had settled on an SB900 or 910 but find these are now unavailable. Similarly I cannot find a source for an SB 800. This all seems to throw me towards the very pricey SB5000. I am willing to buy this but it seems from reading reviews that this is way beyond my needs being a professionals piece of kit. Any help or clarification of what is good, compatible and suitable would be very much appreciated. Thanks. John.

The SB-800, 900 and 910 were the equivalent pro speedlights to the SB-5000 in their day. The production of the previous model has always stopped when a new flagship is out.
The SB-700 is a bit less powerful than the pro units, but it works really well and is nearly as easy to use.
If you look outside the Nikon range, Metz are about equivalent to the Nikons at a similar price point. Lots of photographers use the Yongnuo TTL flashes with good results and lots of money for stands and reflectors compared to buying Nikon.

Godox V860ii
Absolutely brilliant speedlight. Every feature possible, more than any Nikon flash. Great build quality. Li-on battery for unbeatable battery life and far better recycle times than AA batteries. Built in receiver. Power is equivalent to a SB-910. And on top of that it's far cheaper than any Nikon flash.
I've sold off my Nikon speed lights. These things are incredible.
