My combination for this week will be the D300 and Ai MicroNikkor 55/3.5.
If anyone else wants to shoot any single focal length with me for a week, feel free to post what you get in this thread.

Yesterday, I did something really stupid... I went for a ride on one of the good bikes, intending to go a couple of kilometers, so I didn't bring any water. I logged 30 km in 46 minutes, the temperature was around 22°C and there was enough wind so I didn't feel how hot I got. I spent the rest of the day rehydrating and reading a book. No photos yesterday.
Today, I started a new aeromodelling project. The first stages, sketching up a wing and making the ribs aren't exactly photo material. No photos today either.
I'll try to get out with the camera tomorrow, I promise
As some might have guessed already, I have started my vacation this week.
Well I got started late and time is still playing tricks on me. So, my combination got the week is my iPhone SE, if that's permissible.
Here is one from this morning...

I really like this photo.... and, as good as it is, I think it would be really cool cropped at a point just below the tree reflection. When I scroll the image to that point, the composition really comes together for me.
Oh, and my iPhone is an SE too... and I really need to shoot more often with it. Unfortunately, I sometimes forget that it has a pretty good camera built in.

As my doctor keeps reminding me, "boy! you really need to stay hydrated! And, I mean WATER!"
Enjoy your vacation, Peter!

The next two are different crops of the same flower, except that I can't afford the pixels for cropping, so I had to shoot it two ways.
The many versions idea is a good one, why don't you you think about it some and start your own challenge/exercise. There is absolutely nothing that says that you have to be one of the oldtimers or have a certain postcount to start a challenge.

Shooting up close in available light is what the 55-s do best, except for the repro use they were made for. They are difficult to use with artificial lighting as the working distance is so short, especially as the front element is so far recessed.
That second set is gorgeous, Merco. We've been time strapped, so everything here is just slice of life stuff from our "normal" routine.

Thanks, Chris.
Here comes some bike talk, totally off-topic.
How does that Masi ride? Do they still have the almost Italian geometry they had 10 years ago? It is difficult to see in that photo if the seat tube is relaxed and the steering tube agressive as they used to be or if they are more like other Chinese/Taiwanese frames. Do you like the ergo bend bars, I never did but that is a matter of taste.
I will try to shoot a series of my two road bikes in this week's One lens... challenge if the weather permits. Yesterday, I did a cardio workout on the road and did 75 km in 2 hours 35 minutes without leaving the 39. I have to work on my spinning as my right knee will probably never be what it was before I crashed in January 2015. I have finally been cleared to use SPD-s, even if my Look Kéos still need a bit too much twist with the damaged knee to disengage.
