So, I just got my brand new Nikon D3400, and I love it. I got it to take photos, but also a lot for shooting videos. Before getting my D3400, my main camera was my Apple iPad Pro 9.7. I just shot a video, and I noticed that the quality is a bit more grainy than the iPad's. I also noticed that the colors seemed to be more washed away compared to the iPad's. I was shooting in 1080p60 on both devices, and in auto mode on the D300. I am new to shooting with DSLRs and new to all the settings and buttons. Am I doing something wrong? Is there anything I can do to make the quality better and make the colors pop more? I'd really appreciate some help. Thanks!

I don't shoot much video on them, but maybe the "Picture Styles" (or something like that) need changing? Not sure  that is even possible but worth looking at.

If it's grainy your ISO setting must be too high. Check the settings.

Go through each menu item one by one and see if any makes sense to change.

iPad is a computer with very heavy algorithms to make video look good. If you want great vid from the 3400 sooc, try the vivid profile with a bumb to sharpening, contrast, and saturation.

If you want the best possible dynamic range, shoot with neutral profile and grade in post.

Ideally, you'll get best results using manual, but if you want auto the above settings will get you better sooc video.

I have the D3300, and the video sucks, even compared to any random iphone video in the last 3 years ..

I ended up using iphone for video, and nikon for photos
