I have a Coolpix P520.  My SDHC 32GB 80mb/s cards lost its write enable grey tab on the side so I can no longer use it.

I have my backup SDHC 32 GB 30 mb/s card as my only card.  But I need to buy a backup card.

Does the speed of the SD card make a difference in my camera?

Is it correct that a faster card means I can take pictures more quickly? Or is there a limit to the speed that the camera can write ?

Is there a link to good info on choosing SD cards?

Page 21 of the user manual for your camera specifies that for video (i.e. continous recording) you should use at least a class 6 card (i.e. a 6MB/s card)

But to answer your question: it depends what you are using your camera for. If you do a lots of video recording or regularly shoot bursts (fi sports), then the card speed is quite important.

Also faster cards will allow you to copy more quickly your captures from the card to your computer.

Based on the above a 30MB/s should be fine for your camera, while anything quicker will give you more comfort.
