Hello, just registered to ask you a quick question for something that is bugging me for a year.

I have D5200 with 18-105 for 2 years. When insert RAW pictures in Lightroom it automatically recognize the profile for the lens and it's up to me if a click the checkbox to apply the lens correction or not.

Year ago I got Tamron 70-300 VC USD II and Lightroom doesn't recognize automatically the lens/profile. It is in the list of available profiles but I have to manually choose it. That's not a problem if I download 300 images all shot with 70-300, do the lens profile correction for the first one and then synch the rest, but it is a problem when I have mixed images some shoot with 18-105 and others with 70-300.

How to fix this. Is it that D5200 do not recognize the lens and so do not write it in exim/RAW data, or it is Lightroom problem?

Thank you!

I don't know, but Tamron have a history of using the same lens info tag for more than one model of lens. This would give exactly the behaviour you see here.

When it comes to separating out the 70-300 shots for batch processing, can't you search for the 18-105 shots, assign them a colour and then hide that colour? I haven't used Lightroom in earnest for some years now, so I'm not sure how that works but it might be worth looking into.

I understand.
