Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 11 June 2017, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style—just give us your best shot.

If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

P.S. The editing exercises are taking a break for the summer, but feel free to play around in the old exercises.

P.P.S. Peter is running a fun single lens challenge that we are all invited to participate in.

Looks like I'm first this week.  I'm having a hard time deciding, so I'll post these two.  I had a meeting in Washington, DC today so I went in early and took a few photos.  I like this one of the Old Executive Office Building.

About as opposite from the city as it gets, this scene captured yesterday evening is along a highway not far from home.34302833704_bba5151dcf_b.jpg

My best this week is one that has all I want in a street shot. The people look relaxed as I am just a part of the street, not that guy..., the wide angle giving a presence I would never have got creeping around with a tele, the splash of colour provided by the red foodtruck, the visual tension between the trucks and the cathedral and the overall low contrast all work together.

Heh--I'm jumping back into this week's thread because I was traveling during the week and didn't have time to examine any of your photos or post any of my own photos.

Mark, both of your images are lovely in such different ways. I really enjoy the city building, but that rural landscape is so inviting to me. I'd love to go for a drive there.

Tony, I really like the colors you've captured--very appealing image!

Peter, I wrote about this image in your other thread, but I'll just say it again--nicely done!

So this image should probably be in the last week's thread because I took it on Sunday, but I'm considering it as part of this week of travel. I went to Missouri and Illinois with my husband, and on Sunday night we went on the dinner cruise out of Hannibal, Missouri, on the Mark Twain riverboat. Food was decent, but it was fun being on the river at sunset. And I'm very much a westerner so hadn't seen the Mississippi before. That is a pretty impressive river!

Nikon D810, Nikkor 24-70mm @ 31mm, f/2.8, 1/160, ISO 400. I tried MacPhun's Luminar to process it. It seems to have added a bit of noise in the sky (I don't think it was quite so pronounced in the RAW file).

Thanks for the comments, Nicole, both here and on Flickr.  If you ever make it this far east let us know you're coming.  We'd be happy to act as tour guides for a day.

Sweet!! Thanks much for the kind offer--I'd love to have some natives of the area show us around! (Especially when those natives are photographers. :) ) I don't know when we'll be back your way, but we're hoping to do a Washington DC trip sometime in the not-too-distant future, so who knows?

I'm eventually going to beg Tom (TBonz) to show us around North Carolina too. Heh... Maybe we should start a travelers thread where people can say things like "Hey, I'm headed to XYZ--anybody there have an evening to take me to some good sunset spots?" or something... Or maybe the other way around--"I'm in Utah and know parts of Idaho and Wyoming fairly well so let me know if you need someone to show you around." Or maybe it will just be organic and people will ask specific questions when they need to and I don't need to have a thread for everything.  This fall we're planning a big road trip loop through northern Nevada and Lake Tahoe, northern California, and southern California before heading back to Utah. I was thinking about hiring a guide while we're in Tahoe because I've never been there and our time is limited. But how much more fun would it be to hang with someone from the forums, eh? Anyhow, just thinking. We need to travel much, much more...

Nicole,

I'll be happy to show you around North Carolina and would do the same in Virginia / DC if I were able to be up there when you were in town!  I'd do my best to help anyone out with local info...

So I am not sure if I have the right week for these, but did just get around to processing them, so I am guessing I am pretty close to the right week...I had my D4 and 24-70 lens...

My wife and I headed down to our dock and it was almost as if the one cloud was absorbing all of the sun's light.  Or maybe it was rising above the other clouds and was rewarded with the light...don't know, but I really liked what I saw and thought it turned out pretty well...

And then I turned around to find this view of the sunset...

On another occasion, I did not have my camera with me and was not going to miss this shot...so this comes to you from my trusty phone...I guess we moved on the wrong side of the creek for the gold...

Hoping to get some more camera time near the water over the next few weeks...
