If my memory serves me correctly, the D7100 is weather sealed but what about the lenses? If the lenses are not weather sealed, what is the point of making a body weather sealed? The D7100 is not a pro camera so surely they can't expect people to use pro lenses on a dx camera? I have a 55-200mm VRII and 35mm f1.8 and a Tamron 70-300mm VC. How sealed, if at all, are they?

Some have seals, most don't. I believe the newer SP Tamrons are sealed (I know my 10-24 VC HLD is), but I don't think any of the ones you mention are.

You can usually tell by a seal at the len's mount, and the feel of the zoom/focus rings.

BTW, why wouldn't you use a "pro" lens on a DX body? Lot's of pros shoot DX.

I thought pro lenses were only for full frame cameras. If the lenses are not weather sealed, the camera body is effectively unsealed.

Full frame lenses can be used on DX with excellent results, and a number of DX lenses are weather sealed (like the Tamron I previously mentioned).

You can find a list of Nikon models at Bodzash Photography and Astronomy: A Complete List of Weather-Resistant Nikon Lenses

I had to check my lenses and my 35mm f1.8G has a lens mount gasket on it so I have one at least.

Excellent; I stand corrected then. Keep in mind weather resistant does not mean weather proof. If I shoot in heavy rain or seriously splashy conditions, I'd still bag my rig... and use a filter, especially if it's salt water.

So what's your hi-fi looking like these days?

I was just going through my posts and realised I hadn't replied to your question! How did I not see it?! I am so sorry. Here is a picture of my hi fi. Sorry for the poor photos. The Turntable is a Pro-Ject Carbon, amp is Yamaha as is the CD.Tuner 1975 Sony, 1978 Sony tape deck and 1978 Sansui tuner at the bottom. My Monitor Audio BX6 speakers are also providing sound for the tv.
