I recently acquired a D70. It had the format problem, but I reinstalled the 2.0 firmware and it seems to be working OK.

My question is: after the firmware update, what is the maximum size CF card that will work?

I believe the D70 uses SD cards and not CF cards, but I could be wrong...It has been quite awhile, but I believe I used 16GB SD cards in my D90 so I would assume the D70 could as well...

According to what I've found the D70 uses CF cards with a maximum capacity of 16GB.

D70 is busting my DSLR cherry too. Just picked mine up a few weeks ago with a flash problem, which I've already fixed. But I don't have the firmware update. In the menu mine is like this:

Current
A 1.01
B 1.03

Up or down arrow keys don't seem to select anything, can just go back or press right to select OK. So not sure what is what. Reminds me to order a printed manual soon.

And it has a 32GB CF card in it. Works fine. I did switch the file format from JPEG NORMAL to RAW+JPEG. Went from 17k shots to a modest 2.2k.

Doesn't mention which firmware but this may be handy.
