Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 4 June 2017, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style—just give us your best shot.

If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

P.S. The editing exercises are taking a break for the summer, but feel free to play around in the old exercises.

P.P.S. Peter is running a fun single lens challenge that we are all invited to participate in.

Nice one, Jerry! Is it meant to be a wizard-ish type crystal ball?

I'm in a bit early again this week. I'm not done for the week by any means, but I do think I will be busy this weekend and wanted to get something in rather than not at all. In still life mode again...raspberries this time.

D810, Nikkor 105mm, f/8, 1/100, ISO 100. Used natural light--used the scrim from my 5-in-1 to diffuse late afternoon sun in a west-facing window and added a couple of white cards to the left and angled slightly front left. I think. I moved the white cards a bit throughout the shoot.

Nicole - those look delicious!

I think I'll go with this one for this week.  It was a toss up between the eagle and the kitties.  Kitty photos are much easier to come by, though, so the bird wins:

A friend owns this #5 car and got me into the infield.  I normally shoot on aperture control and adjust ISO to get the shutter speed I want.  That's how these photos were taken.  I think using shutter speed contol and putting ISO in auto may be better way.  Race was in the evening the the light was constantly changing.  Any advice?

Taken with Pentax K100D Super body and Takumar F 70~210mm Lens.

1/180s, F/5. ISO @ 200, focal length @ 70mm, used onboard flash and Spot Metering.

I have photos of these flowers, but not in this color.  Sort of fun and interesting.

Thanks so much for viewing.

Looks like you pretty much nailed the focus. I will usually use shutter priority and auto ISO for something like this, but your results are good so if it ain't broke...

My advice would be you take it to the next level. What I mean is that you have frozen the cars and they pretty much look parked. Lowering your shutter speed and following the car will apply motion blur to the background and add "speed" to the story of your photos.

I'll be the first to point out that this is a physical skill that requires practice, and you could accomplish this to a certain extent in post, but it will add the main, missing element from these photos.

Good advice ScottinPollock. I will definitely try that at the next opportunity.

Still in the mode of not having a camera readily available - and not trusting my family (or myself) with the good gear on the boat, I am stuck with phone pix again this week...

We were supposed to have a fairly rainy week, but we really didn't get too much rain...One day I did have my camera, but never saw anything exciting enough to shoot...next day left the camera put away and got one of the faintest rainbows I have ever seen...didn't last long either but at least I was able to grab it with the phone...

Later in the week, my son and I were out on the boat and I was driving it back to the house.  It was the first time we had been out on the water this late in the day and I used the phone to grab a few shots of the early part of the sunset...This is one of those shots that I was really happy with for a phone shot!

I will see if I can get the real camera active this week!  :)
