Nikon Forum Users: Greetings. I have a question about using an N1 pinhole mount on a Nikon 1 J4. When I remove the Nikkor 18.5mm lens, put on the N1 pinhole mount, and turn on the camera, a message appears to the effect that a lens must be attached to take a photo. Why doesn't this N1 pinhole lens work with the camera? How is such a pinhole lens to be used with the N1 J4 if the camera can't take a photo because it "thinks" no lens is attached? Please enlighten me.

What exposure mode was active? I think AutoISO must be off and the mode set to M to use lenses without the electrical contacts. I don't own any of the 1 models, so I could be wrong.

As Peter said, you have to be in manual mode for using lenses without electric contacts on the Nikon 1 cameras.
