I just purchased a D7100 am am learning it.  It's my first Nikon DSLR, although I'm a 30+ year vet of photography.

I have my camera set for auto ISO and have run some bracketed frames sets of 3, to notice that the under exposed seems to have a correct (metered) exposure while the other two (metered and over) seems bright.

Is it possible that auto iso in combination with bracketing is the issue?

Thanks for the advice.

For HDR, I bracket based on shutter speed only so DOF does not change. I use Manual with a fixed ISO setting using the exposure meter (or live view) as a guide.

If you check the EXIF data you will see if ISO changed.

(I have fixed ISO when bracketing, so can't answer your question directly, but would be interested to read whether ISO changed)

With Auto ISO, ISO will change to try and get proper metered exposure even in Manual mode... which is why it is pointless to bracket with it on (unless of course you want to use exposure compensation for your bracketing).
