I don't like the composition of this photo. Maybe you should live more body bottom in the frame? Also I think that vertical composition would be better for this shot.

thanks for the comment this was the one time in here act that she was still sitting by a table with one of the audience in a very unflattering pose  that was the reason for the crop

That arm (or whatever it is) in the right part of the image is very distracting. Easily fixable in post.

What camera, lens and settings did you use?

I would have used a wide open lens to blur the background more.

Of course, that all depends on what kind of lens you were using.

I would crop the photo to remove the arm on the right and some off the top of the frame too. Good colors though. It's always hard to try and take photos of someone when they are moving, dancing in a confined space imho.

Interesting comment by INyoni on cropping the arm off on the right. I have always tried to keep most of a person's body in cropped images, have I got it wrong - not that there are definite rights and wrongs on playing with images, but think you know what I mean?

Thanks Tony, I was thinking about the extreme right of the photo where there seems to be someones arm or shoulder in the frame. I would crop it out of the frame and then crop the image to give a bit more pleaseing compsition.

You might want to try a portrait crop closer in to the subject...

Yep, I'd agree with this - maybe keep the person in the background to give some DoF?
