I have problem with my D80. Camera take picture well with disabled flash. With flash enabled, it popup by halfway shutter press, autofocus work but after full press camera can't take a picture and flash not fire. It's not settings related. I check small microswitch under flash top cover and it is in place. Camera didn't make clicking sound.
Please assist me?

Simple solution would be to leave the built-in flash disabled and add an external flash for situations where you may need / want to use a flash.

Or, perhaps I am missing something?
