My combination for this week will be the D300 and 105/2.5 Ai

If anyone else wants to shoot any single lens with me for a week, feel free to post what you get in this thread.

Next week will be the same lens on D700. I will skip the Sonnar and the 105/1.8 as the differences between those three are too subtle to show up on web-sized photos.

D610 and the 50/1.4 G… again. I do look forward to 50mm week!

AND I'm off to a flying start. Watch this space...

Classic '92 Kona Cinder Cone. Lightly restored but mostly original Had to photograph it this morning so that I can advertise it (before I get too attached to it!)

Spring seems to have arrived. The light, the flowers and trees budding and the water level in the river say so, at least. The weather forecast for tomorrow mentioned snow, so we'll see.

For my contribution today I utilized my D90 and a 18-55 Nikon lens.  I haven't used this combination in a few years, so It took a few snaps to get going.  In deference to Bart, the king of B/W, I shot alll with converting in mind.  All shots taken in my house or on my property, will expand to a larger radius tomorrow.

1) my back yard, 2) that ole rocking chair, 3) the obligatory ceiling fan shot, 4, coffee mug, 5) another ceiling chandelier shot, 6) one of our paintings, by Amado Pena, Native American, our favorite artist, 7) Mexican Palm. Started life, with us, as a 5 gal potted plant, now ten feet tall,

Dogbytes, don't sell that Kona, it's a classic.  My Gangl road bike is 30 years old, wouldn't sell it for anything, even a new D5.  My mtb bike is a Tomac, 15 years old, same attachment even though it has been through a hit-and-run with me.  A few dents, but still rides like a dream.

:D It has to go, I can't keep everything! It is a lovely bike though and if I had time/space/funds I'd try to get the bits together to bring it back to original - brakes, levers, etc. Most of the bits are there though.

I'll try to find time to photograph my current ride - it's a bit of a mongrel but goes very well :)

My old MTB isn't as old as the Kona, and far from original. I wanted to build a commuter/explorer and found this '97 Parkpre cheap as a bare frame. It was a headset, frame, fork and seatpost and that's it. Originally they had AceraX components but after looking at NOS prices for 3x7 from the late '90-s, I decided to buy a complete Deore 3x10 group as that would be cheaper. I never liked Avocet saddles or the flimsy handlebars Parkpre used, so I modernized these as well instead of looking for good condition or NOS.

This is the main reason for running an old MTB as a commuter. There is lots of sand left after the winter still and the Schwalbe Marathons I use on the mixte don't handle rolling, crushed rock as a road surface too well.

I have some nice pics of my two 'ultimate bikes', a road bike  (Merlin Extralight with Campag Record) and a mtb (Giant MCM Composite that I built over several years). Sadly they've gone now so I'll have to post them on one of the other Photo Sharing sections.

Only a few rural ones today...

This morning we had quite a bit of frost. It is easy to see that I use the drops even when commuting.

The air is remarkably clean even in the centre of Uppsala, lichen won't grow unless the air is reasonably clean.

And now for something completely different —the black-headed gull.

BIF isn't easy when using a 40-year old manual focus 105 mm.

My wife had the best photo op today - finding a dead, washed up Pilot Whale whilst walking the dogs. Will go and look tomorrow morning and, if it's still there, get some pics.
