Hi
I have recently purchased a Nikon D3400 as an entry level camera for amateur photography. I having be using previous to this a Sony mirrorless A5000 camera. I have been exploring the Nikons settings and how it works as it operates some what differently to the Sony. I am perplexed as to why the same setting and conditions is captures very differently by the two camera's in terms of the ISO.
I set up a test composition of items indoor in my spare room and took the same picture with both camera's in AUTO. The Sony camera selected in my opinion the correct auto ISO setting for the composition producing a clear good picture, however the Nikon in AUTO selected an excessively high ISO for no reason. The Nikon then produced a grainy awful picture.
Although I am looking to use the manual settings If I wanted to use the AUTO setting it would be good to know the camera is choosing the optimal settings to product a good quick picture....but it appears to be currently selecting the worse ISO possible???
If anyone has a clue what or why this camera is doing this then it would really help me out if you could offer any advice.
Many thanks in advance.
Mandy
