Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 19 March 2017, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style—just give us your best shot.

If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

P.S. Come play with us in the editing exercises (and feel free to play around in the old exercises too).

P.P.S. Peter is running a fun single lens challenge that we are all invited to participate in. We're focusing on macro this week, so come play. (You can still use any lens you want--doesn't have to be macro.)

Well, up to now I'm quite liking this one...

Although I do like the idea of printing the posterized version as a bit of abstract art...

I really like that. What is it?

Not that it matters. From design perspective it's beautiful.

Here is a repost from Peter's single lens challenge. So far, this is my favorite from this week.

Thanks Alden. It's just a bar stool - we have six of them round the kitchen table. They're all different - so look out for the rest of the series! :D The orange bit, to the right, is part of the backrest. The other orange bit is the seat. There is a chromed tube under that bit. The turquoise blur is the lower stretcher of the table. If that doesn't make sense, I'll post a wider shot!

Loving the Seiko shots, by the way. I've always been quite keen on watches - especially mechanical ones.

Here is my best this week.

gallery_1251_656_171279.jpg

94 slices @ ISO: 200, Aperture: 4, Shutter: 1/40.

Lighting was a big octabox camera left and a sunfire reflector camera right. The watch rests on black Lucite and I used a match as a distance to get the band to hold it's shape. The hands are at 10:09:30 as is usual when shooting clocks and watches to get a nice geometry that balances on the face. Because of the angle, the crown being pulled out isn't disturbing. Had I shot it more straight on, I would have had to shoot the crown pushed in separately and composited it in in post.

Since I do not own a watch I'll post this one.  :)

I'm glad someone got out this week!

Still inside this weekend, "touch of flu" making a second go around.

When my get-up-and-go gets up and goes, leaves me sitting at my workbench.

This is a very-early, "all black" Nikkor 13.5cm F3.5 from 1955. It was only $60 because of separation between the elements of the middle group. I had a replacement part, sitting in my parts bin. 10 minute job, no tools necessary aside from rubber bands: everything simply unscrews. About as hard as opening 4 jars of jelly.

Decisions, decisions… This one's Impy during a race training session, this afternoon.

It was a snatched shot on a dull day, taken after I'd been shooting in the shade of some trees - hence the rather high ISO and shutter speed. With a few seconds to spare, I'd have dropped the ISO to 400 and the aperture to 2.8 - with plenty of latitude to keep the shutter speed as high as it would have needed to be.

We finally caught a break in some very inclement weather today.  Didn't take long to saddle up and get out of Dodge.  We had a lot of fun.  I left the blue strands in there because it is not my property, so there it is.

1/60s,f/13, ISO @ 200, F/L @ 55mm, used onboard flash and CWA Metering.
