These were taken with my D610, 20 years old 50mm 1.8 lens, and on-camera integral flash.

Tim Tebow started this annual event for Special Needs people, and it has grown like crazy. Attendance at this one location has grown by over 200% over the last two years, and nationwide the growth is even larger. They even had one in Haiti this year!

The star you see here is my daughter Emily. She is 17 years old, attends the Applied Behavioral Center for Autism school, loves lemonade and orange juice, and watching movies and making greeting cards. Her current movie obsession is "The Wizard of Oz" (I got her the new Blu-Ray edition, and she would watch it over and over all day long if we let her).

She danced nearly every song with he partner, a behavioral therapist and personal friend.

Emily was born with Down Syndrome and developed Autism as she grew older. She had open heart surgery at age 4 months, and has been as healthy as a race horse ever since.

I love these, alden--I'm so glad you shared. Doubly glad that Emily had a great time! Thanks for introducing her to us a little more--we've seen photos here and there, but it's fun to get a glimpse of her personality. :)

You are welcome. She's home from school spending the day with dad today and right now she's watching "Momma Mia" and dancing /singing along with all the ABBA songs, for the thousandth time.

Hahahaha

Ha ha! Sounds like a great time! I hope you like ABBA...they were my absolute favorite music group in the entire world when I was much, much younger, so I still love to hear them and still know all the words to their songs. But...after the thousandth time even I might get a bit of ABBA fatigue.

This reminds me of when my daughter went through her Beauty and the Beast phase--five years ago and I still can't stand the thought of that movie or any of its music.

Still, it's so lovely and heartwarming to watch them have such a great time, isn't it?

Well, have fun!

I've got to get back to work...and you know what's in my head now, right? "If you change your mind, I'm the first in line..." Sheesh...

I know it well!

"Dancing Queen" is her favorite song of all time. She knows ever word and does the disco dance moves as she sings along. It's pretty hysterical. :D

These photo's convey what a good time your daughter had at her Prom.

It takes special people to raise special needs children; the problem set is very different from what most people experience.I know a lot of parents that just could not handle it.
