Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 19 February 2017, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style—just give us your best shot.

If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

P.S. Come play with us in the editing exercises (and feel free to play around in the old exercises too).

P.P.S. Also check out the music inspiration challenges. Some very cool stuff going on in there!

P.P.S. Peter is running a fun single lens challenge that we are all invited to participate in.

Nothing too special from me this week. Did do some photos for a promotions business for their website.

I did find a good, super simple way to make your backgrounds pure in Lightroom though which I should share some time. I really should make a video, would be easiest to demonstrate it.

We attended the 2017 Hoop Dance World Championships in Phoenix last Sunday.  Not getting there early was a mistake as we had to sit about 30 meters away from the dance floor, and had to shoot through a sea of heads, hopefully finding a clear shot.  I used my d750 with my new Tamron 70-200.  I set the f stop at 2.8 hopefully to get a blurred background.  While the contestants were in the middle of the arena, the crowd on the opposite side was only 5 meters behind them.

1) dancer in the teen division

2) Tony Ducan, past world champion and local favorite

3) Woman in the senior division, from Ontario CAN, also past world champion

This week I have two photos that are connected as the first one is a statue of Gunnar Wennerberg by Theodor Lundberg and the second a monument by Thomas Qvarsebo inspired by Wennerberg's two most famous characters, Glunten and Magistern.

A clear indication that Grandpa Dracula is back in town.  Often times he feels it is necessary to get rid of all the bad blood.

This is a photo of a clay landscape jug I spotted in Sherwood Forest.

Pentax k-50 body with SMC Pentax-DA 18~55mm F/3.5~5.6AL Lens.

1/100s, F/5.6, ISO @ 400, Focal Length @ 45mm, no flash and used Multi-Segment Metering.

Thanks so much for viewing.

Tony

Looking at it again, it appears more macabre than when first spotted.  :))

I got a couple that I like today.  I would guess that it's unlikely I'll top these this week.

Today was the 72nd anniversary of the invasion of Iwo Jima- and I just bought a "new 60+ year old lens"... A Canon 85mm F1.5, came out in 1952 in Leica mount. Took it to the Marine Museum, Quantico Virginia.

Wide-Open on the M9, ISO2500.

Chosin Reservoir, Korean War Display.

Wide-Open ISO2500, Pearl harbor display,

ISO160, also wide-open.

I wanted to "stress test" the lens.

Nikon made an 8.5cm F1.5 in S-Mount and Leica mount, but the cost is 8x the $425 that I paid for this lens. I could have bought a Nikkor 85/1.4 for the same price... but using stuff that is older than I am, and i will be 60 in a few months, appeals to me. The focus was perfect on my Leica M9, considering the camera and lens were made almost 60 years apart- amazing.

First, where is the photo?

Second, wouldn't it be better to start a new thread for your spotter photos.
