Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 12 February 2017, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style—just give us your best shot.

If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

P.S. Come play with us in the editing exercises (and feel free to play around in the old exercises too).

P.P.S. Also check out the music inspiration challenges. Some very cool stuff going on in there!

P.P.S. Peter is running a fun single lens challenge that we are all invited to participate in.

Not a new photo as such. Same subject as last week but part two of our shoot.

Another week with little to choose from...  Trying to capture some "action" with my new lens but can't seem to nail the focus the way I want.  Here are a couple of examples.

Both are cropped - the duck more so than Mugsy.  Both were set to AF-C, D-9 for focus settings.  I plan to try harder with single point AF-C for the next session.  It's tough to hold that lens "on target" with a fast moving subject.  Or any subject for that matter.  :)

First post processing with Aurora HDR.  It was only one exposure.  I was pleased with the result.

Peter--those buns looks pretty darn good! So the question is, do you eat them plain or in hot milk? :)

Alden--I believe I recognize your daughter in that sweet photo, yes? What was the occasion?

dcbear--that's gorgeous work right there. The light is so intriguing--love the bit of rim light on her left forearm.

PebblzNnutz--what a great moment! I love this! Very fun capture (the little girl covering her ears is so cute).

Mark--nice work with that 150-600! Of the two, the duck looks a bit sharper, but I really like the movement and expression of the dog. I have that lens as well but seldom use it--it is so big and heavy. You're right that it is hard to hold on a moving target. I need to get out more with it...

Nova85--that is fantastic. It was a beautifully composed image, but the processing really added a big pop. Wow. Thank you for showing the before and after--and I'm going straightaway to check out Aurora HDR (which won't help me with my great weakness in composition...sigh).

You guys are awesome--this is wonderful work. Sadly, I haven't got one single photo to share this week. I didn't even take one with my iPhone. Busy times (added a part-time job to the full-time one).

I'm going to have be very determined to do something this week...

Nicole, I am one of those who eat them plain. We are getting closer to the right day now, the tuesday 7 weeks before easter. Only two weeks left.

Great feedback on everyone's photos Nicole.

Yes that is my Emily. The famous football player, Tim Tebow, started a Special Needs annual prom that is hosted by large churches across the nation. This was the third year. I got some more shots, but that one was my favorite. I will do a separate post with more pictures, if you would like to see them.

So am I understanding that they are only really made and eaten during this one time of year?

Well, I might call it acknowledgement more than feedback, heh. :) I saw the post about Emily's prom--thanks for sharing it!

Traditionally, it was even illegal to sell them before a certain date before the correct day, I don't remember how far in advance. Now they are sold from somewhen around 12-th eve onwards. This very rich bun was originally a part of the building up of energy stores in the body before lent started with the fasting and other penances.
