Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 29 January 2017, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style—just give us your best shot.

If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

Also, please take a moment and share your best photos of 2016 here: Your Best Photos of 2016 - Mini-Challenges, Member Contests, and Games - NikonForums.com. We are getting quite an impressive collection of everyone's best!

P.S. Come play with us in the editing exercises (and feel free to play around in the old exercises too).

P.P.S. Also check out the music inspiration challenges. Some very cool stuff going on in there!

P.P.S. Peter is running a fun single lens challenge that we are all invited to participate in.

I took another visit to the Phoenix Zoo and captured the male lion looking for his breakfast.  I converted this head shot to b/w to see what effect it would have.

If a model is willing to go into the water and get her evening gown wet and sandy I guess I am going to have to commit and sit in the water to get my shot. And my assistant has got to come in to hold my light! Not passing up the opportunity for this shot.

D810 with Tamron 70-200mm @ 200mm, f2.8, 1/500s, ISO 64. Godox AD600 with a 90cm octa camera right.

The water is a bit colder here than in Queensland...

This mallard drake seems to enjoy it, though.

I was only able to get out with the camera once this week.  Here's one of the sun going down behind the Blue Ridge mountains.

I took 1 shot all week. Getting over breaking my favorite camera, and being down with my arthritis  This is one inside a bird seed bin . . I am not real happy, but it is what it is,The only shot I have this week. Thus by default it is my best this week.

Whoosh--gorgeous work this week! You all can be very intimidating, you know?

I have had weeks like this!

This week I was shooting another still life--this time with candy as part of a color study. I knew I had this turquoise-colored false tabletop and thought it would be fun to put red against it.

I was also experimenting with using a kicker light. Meh...actually ended up liking many of the shots without it, though some it livened up a bit.

Used the 105mm on the D810 with a 50-inch softbox on camera left and white card on camera right, both close in. Actually, for the first shot, I used the same hard light from last week--bare speed light really high up on the right, but this week I used the soft box as fill.

My first visit, took the opportunity to visit St Anthony's  Greek Orthodox Monastery in the area (35 miles southeast).  Never been before.  A beacon in the desert so to speak.  They allow photos as long as you ask permission to photograph the residents.  I took just a few shots but will return sometime at sunrise or sunset to capture the chapel when it is lit.

The B/W was edited in Topaz
