Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 15 January 2017, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style—just give us your best shot.

If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

Also, please take a moment and share your best photos of 2016 here: Your Best Photos of 2016 - Mini-Challenges, Member Contests, and Games - NikonForums.com. We are getting quite an impressive collection of everyone's best!

P.S. Come play with us in the editing exercises (and feel free to play around in the old exercises too).

P.P.S. Also check out the music inspiration challenges. Some very cool stuff going on in there!

P.P.S. Peter is running a fun single lens challenge that we are all invited to participate in.

My best this week aren't that great technically, it is more about catching the moment...

My cat sometimes still forgets that he is nearly 17 years old. Last evening he found my newly laundered clothes and started playing like a kitten.

My son rebuilds old Japanese motorcycles.  He got one ready to sell yesterday and asked me to get some photos.  Here's a couple of examples.

I've been wanting to do a high end type of beauty shoot and retouch for a while but not been able to put the pieces together for one. That was until a couple weeks ago. Not perfect, but for my first ever attempt at such a thing I am happy. Also my first outing with the Tokina 100mm macro that I bought for this purpose.

Peter--I love those photos of your cat! Our old cat (13 years) seems to be going through his second kittenhood right now. He seems to have become more playful since we moved houses...

Mark--very nice! That is a great-looking machine! It kind of makes me wish I could ride a motorcycle...but they scare me. Maybe if I was the one driving instead of riding on the back (but the last I tried to drive one, I laid it down...luckily we weren't going fast).

dcbear--those are lovely. That pink/purple cast from your lights is fabulous. And I like your before and after--nice to see your retouching results. Why did you decide to edit out her jewelry? It seems like it would fit with her hair and makeup and with this style of image in general. Not saying you shouldn't have--just curious about your thought process.

Another still life from me. I haven't had much time to do much more than put this image together:

This is what is known as; Getting dumped on.  In addition, it is still with us.  Expecting frigid temperatures for at least another week.

Thanks so much for viewing.  Nikon D70 with AFNikkor 28~105mm lens.  ISO 200, 1/1250s, f/9, F/L 105mm Pattern Metering.  The same EXIF info., applies to the next two flicks.

Tony

Same set up as the first.  Thanks for viewing.  My neighbor's and my feeble and very cold attempt at building an Igloo. :))

TT

Tony's neighborhood loaded and freezing.  After these three shots, I was more than ready for the great indoors.  :))

Thanks

Tony

Well, I managed to goof this one up.  After these three shots I was ready to head indoors.

I've never seen snow

I was born and raised in Indiana Saw plenty of snow. We have lived the last 36 years in Tennessee. 1 inch of snow is a blizzard and shuts everything down.

I live in Florida. In the last 59 years I've seen snow exactly two times, and it melted as soon as it hit the ground.

It snows in Australia but mostly in the southern mountain ranges. And also Tasmania which has the only real populated towns and cities that receive snow.

Where I live has identical weather to Miami. Too hot and humid for me. Can't wait to move as soon as I am able to.

In a former life I spent a considerable amount of time in snow and ice. Nowadays, whenever I want to complain about the heat and humidity here in south Florida, I think back to all those times when I had to start digging my car out at 3AM in order to be at work by seven.

Snow? Gosh it's pretty to look at but I don't miss it a bit.

I am originally from New England and I can easily recall many brutal winters there.  At nine years old, I had to walk one and a half miles to school each day, up to my knees in snow, with a biting wind and that powdery, stinging snow in my face with an added blessing of having a heavy bag of books on my back.   A few years after living in Oregon, my company transferred me to their Tacoma, Washington office for one year.  One morning, there was a surprise of three inches of snow on the ground.  As I was on my way to work and listening to the radio, I heard the announcer say that Boeing Corporation had called their entire second shift and told them to stay home.  "FOR THREE INCHES OF SNOW." That was worth a few chuckles.
