Good for you for continuing to shoot. I just started reading a book called The Practice of Contemplative Photography, and the authors encourage their readers to find art in everyday life, which is what you are doing here. Awesome.
Keep it up!
I just started reading one called
Extraordinary Everyday Photography. Same encouragement.
From a design perspective, I like the one you took of the wall plug and lamp base. It's very interestingly balanced by the two elements on either side.
Thank you for the encouragement. There were lots more that I didn't like enough to upload to flickr. I figure if nothing else it's good practice with the controls on the new camera. I need to develop the memory, muscle and otherwise, so I don't fumble for buttons.
Do not be afraid of low light — embrace it instead. As you have a D810 and a 50/1.4, why not go out and shoot some in available dark? There is an Insanely low light challenge in the Mini-challenges section if you want to do something like that. Link
I will look for the low light challenge. I guess I'll have to pack my tripod for these trips.
