If you could only own one lens, what which one would it be and why?

 Should be interesting....

Peace

I'd say the Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 VC. Good image quality, vibration control, fast, decent focal length range.

Hard to pick just one but that's the one that came to mind first.

Think it would have to be my Nikon 70-300, can use as a decent portrait lens if needed and has good zoom for wildlife.

Let see. My favorite genre of photography is Landscapes so I need a wide angle lens. But in the same I don't want to lose a possibility to make a portrets. Also I like lenses with minimal F. So I think it should be something like AF-S DX Nikkor 17-55mm F2.8G ED-IF. 55 mm is enough for portrait, 14 mm onough wide angle for landscapes and f 2.8 is just greate. So here is my choise.

Wow, tough call.  It would probably be my Nikkor 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR AF-S DX Zoom Lens.     I use it a lot.    But it would be a close call between that one and my Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G AF-S FX Lens.   I really like that lens too.

So far, for me it, would be the 35mm 1.8. Great lens and I can zoom (within reason) with my feet.

Peace

18-300.....I'd love it even more if they made a 2.8 version :D

The 24-70 2.8 is on my D600 most of the time, but I could NEVER get by with it alone.  Even way back in my film days, when I didn't know squat, I had a fifty and a 200.  So, until someone makes a good 18-200 2.8 (which might not happen in my lifetime), I can't be a one lens guy.

Probably my Nikon 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 DX which is hardly ever off one of my two bodies. When I bought it, I wasn't sure I'd done the right thing but the amount of shots taken with it have justified its existence in my camera bag since then!

That is an awesome lens.

Hm, tough question. I probably use my 55-300mm zoom the most, but I have lately started really enjoying macro photography and loving my 105mm Micro lens!

A great all round lens

My Sigma 50-500mm. Great lens, great quality, very versatile. Currently my favourite lens. I tend to enjoy sport/wildlife photography so the zoom is important to me.

How does this lens do at the 500mm end?  I've been interested in something with a bit longer reach than my 55-300mm for bird shoots.

It's actually very good. I've gotten some great bird shots with it. Here are a couple:

Nikkor 50mm 1.8.

It's the fastest, sharpest, best all around lens I own.
